An excellent blog post about someone visiting a rammed earth round house in China.
The houses are known as Tou Lou, and are made from rammed earth with rice added to the mixture. The Hakka people originated from central China and have moved south over time. This brought them into contact with other peoples, and they began to build these huge fortified houses to defend themselves.
